Welcome to Supernova’s second ever official contest, Junkyard Chic!
Your hosts for this contest will be Stormy and I as well as the rest of the S2S staff.
Get ready for an unusual interior design contest that challenges you to work with what you’ve got.
(this is a sims 2 contest, due to the CC involved)

The deal:
Each round will focus on decorating a different room of the house.
For each room the main furniture pieces will be selected ‘distressed/shabby’ CC that you will have to download and apply to that particular room.
The rest of the décor in each room will be your choice.
It’s up to you and your unique design style to turn shabby into chic!

* The sim you use for this contest must be your own creation.
Tweaking another’s sim is not allowed.
* One entry per contestant allowed.
* Image editing programs are allowed but not required. Do not over Photoshop your images.
Adding borders or making slight corrections to contrast is fine.
* Please remember to keep your images sized according to the site guidelines.
No thumbnails allowed.
* Make sure to add your sims name and round number to the title box when submitting application or round entries.
* Flaming or any other type of rudeness will not be tolerated.
Please be respectful of others.
* Enjoy yourself!

Congratulations on purchasing you’re very first place!
It’s official now, you’re finally out on your own.
There’s just one small problem… you’re completely broke.
Not to worry, your tiny house is just minutes from the city, surely you’ll be making it big in no time.
Only, that doesn’t change the fact that right now you have no bed, couch, stove, chairs…
Time to scrounge up some change and take what you can get.

What you’ll need for the application round:

The home owner.
* 1 headshot of your adult sim. The sim does not have to be human and can be male or female.
Bear in mind that this is not a beauty contest, how your sim looks will not have any effect on your scores.
* The name and age of the home owner.
* Include a short bio (paragraph or two) on where your sim came from and what they’re hoping to accomplish by moving to the city.

The new home.
* 2 pictures (1 aerial, one ground level) showing the house. The arial shot must contain the building squares.
Ground level shot should show the outside of the house.
The house must be built according to the sizes shown below and only the outside and entry way can be decorated.

Kitchen: no more than 4x4 squares
Livingroom: no more than 4x4 squares
Bathroom: no more than 3x3 squares
Bedroom: no more than 6x3 squares

I have included a [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] as an example.

Please keep in mind that this is only intended to be an example and
you do not need to have the same room layout as the picture shows.
However, if you are not comfortable with building, you MAY copy the house design and layout in the screenshot.

Note: While we prefer you to stick with the X by X guide when building, if you're having some difficulty putting the house together you may make a room no larger than the total amount of squares listed for that room. Ex: the bathroom can be no larger than 9 total squares.

I just graduated from Uni and moved to Laguna Lakes in hopes of becoming a well known novelist.
I bought this quaint house on the beach.. And I have a very low budget to decorate with...
So let the fun begin!!

I want to enter but I have a couple of questions first, before building the house.

Can we have a hallway? In the example picture you have a small 2x2 entry, but can we have a narrow 2 square wide hallway running the length of the house? I know that any hallway or entry is not part of the contest, but it might take picture-taking easier if we are able to take pictures through archways from a hallways, etc. And it would make more layouts possible.

Also, can I make the bedroom 4x4 with a small 2x1 area where I can place an AL closet, for a total of 18 squares, like a 6x3 would be? And can the bathroom be 2x4 instead of 3x3? ie. the same or less number of total usable squares? I'm not looking for loopholes but to clarify whether it is the "x by x" that is the guide or the number of squares available for decorating.

Oh yes, that's completely fine Engram.
The picture is just an example really, and as long as you don't make any of the rooms larger than what's in the criteria.

I understand what you're saying...
generally its the "x by x" that is more of a guide, just to make it easier and more uniform, but we're not going to have a problem if you take some of the rooms and have them no larger than the total number of squares.
